The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Saheed Singhran Mahavidyalaya, Pirauna is committed to developing socially responsible, disciplined, compassionate and responsible citizens through voluntary community service. NSS provides students with meaningful opportunities to understand society, identify community needs and contribute towards the welfare and development of the community.

The National Service Scheme is a Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. It was launched on 24 September 1969 with the objective of developing the personality and character of student youth through voluntary community service.

To create responsible, socially conscious and empowered youth who actively contribute to the development of society and the nation.

Mission

The NSS unit of the college aims to:

  • Develop a spirit of social responsibility and community service among students.
  • Encourage students to understand local social issues and participate in their solutions.
  • Promote national integration, communal harmony and social unity.
  • Develop leadership, teamwork, discipline and democratic values.
  • Encourage students to contribute towards cleanliness, environmental protection and public awareness.
  • Prepare young volunteers to respond positively during emergencies and natural disasters.

Major NSS Activities

The NSS unit of Saheed Singhran Mahavidyalaya may organize a wide range of community-oriented activities, including:

1. Cleanliness and Sanitation Drives

Volunteers participate in cleanliness campaigns within the campus and surrounding community, promoting hygiene, sanitation and responsible waste management.

2. Tree Plantation and Environmental Awareness

NSS volunteers organize plantation drives and awareness programmes to promote environmental conservation, biodiversity and sustainable living.

3. Blood Donation & Health Awareness

Students participate in blood donation programmes and health-awareness campaigns in collaboration with appropriate health institutions and authorities.

4. Road Safety Awareness

Awareness programmes, rallies and campaigns may be conducted to promote traffic rules, responsible driving and road safety.

5. Community Awareness Programmes

NSS volunteers help spread awareness about education, health, sanitation, government welfare initiatives, social responsibility and other community issues.

6. Literacy and Educational Activities

Volunteers can support literacy initiatives and encourage children and community members to understand the importance of education.

7. Women Empowerment

NSS activities may focus on awareness regarding women’s education, dignity, safety, rights and participation in social development.

8. Digital and Cyber Awareness

Students can help communities understand responsible use of digital technology, online services, cyber safety and digital literacy.

9. Disaster Management and Relief Activities

NSS encourages students to develop the ability to respond responsibly during emergencies and natural disasters.

10. National Integration and Social Harmony

Cultural programmes, awareness campaigns and community activities help promote unity, brotherhood, national integration and respect for India’s diversity.
